Matthew Marcus is a composer, arranger, performer, music director, and theater educator originally from Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from Vanderbilt University in 2025 with a major in computer science and a minor in music composition.

Matthew is currently a musical theater and choir teacher at the Curve, a Nashville homeschool enrichment group. Recent MD credits include Jekyll & Hyde (Hendersonville Performing Arts Center), The Lightning Thief (Source One Five), Newsies (The Star Bright Players), and Company (Vanderbilt Off-Broadway). He’s also a frequent teaching artist at the Nashville Children’s Theatre.

His most recent composition, “A Question,” was written for the YNYC 2025–2026 Daniel Thompson Memorial Competition for Young Composers. Other notable pieces include “Spring and Fall,” which is featured on Choral Chameleon’s 2024 Album CHANGING produced by Navona Records, and “Whether in Darkness or in Light” which won the NCMEA Young Composers Showcase Award in 2019.
