Matthew Marcus
Matthew Marcus is a composer, performer, and music director based in Nashville, TN. He recently graduated from Vanderbilt University with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and a minor in Music Composition.
At Vanderbilt, he was a performer and music director for the student-run theater organization Vanderbilt-Off Broadway. He MD’d productions of Company (2025), Violet (2023), and is currently conducting Into the Woods post-grad. He also served as music director and arranger for the a cappella club Vanderbilt Variations. Matthew is currently a musical theater teacher at The Curve, a homeschool enrichment program, and will music direct the Star Bright Players’ upcoming production of Disney’s Newsies at the Williamson County Performing Arts Center.
Notable compositions include “Spring and Fall” which is featured on Choral Chameleon’s 2024 Album CHANGING produced by Navona Records and “Whether in Darkness or in Light” which won the NCMEA Young Composers Showcase Award in 2019. He is a current finalist for the YNYC 2025-2026 Daniel Thompson Memorial Competition for Young Composers.
